Sustainability Ramada Suites By Wyndham Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Kuala Lumpur

Official website

Being a proud member of Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Ramada Suites by Wyndham KLCC is committed to operate in a way that is socially, ethically, and environmentally responsible. In light to that, we support the Wyndham Green Program, a five-level certification program that helps reduce a hotel's environmental footprint.

The program includes a proprietary environmental management tool that tracks data to help hotels improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions, conserve water, and reduce waste. This initiative aligns with some reputable sustainability-focused certification programs in the travel industry including TripAdvisor Green Leaders®, Green Key®, and LEED®.

As we expand our positive green global impact every day, we invite you to become part of the Wyndham Green Program by supporting our best practices that we implement at the hotel:

1. We Use Refillable Toiletries Bottles

It is an undeniable fact that plastic is a big threat to our environment. Eight million metric tons of plastic ends up in our oceans every year and if we don’t make major changes, there will be more plastic items than fishes in our oceans by 2050. To reduce the use of plastic, we use refillable toiletries bottles, instead of single-use plastic bottles for shampoo, body wash and conditioner. We believe it is one of the best ways to reduce usage of plastic.

2. We Encourage You to Reuse Towel

According to Economically Sound, a 150-room hotel can conserve 6,000 gallons of water and 40 gallons of laundry detergent per month with a towel/linen reuse program. It is equivalent to 72,000 gallons of water and 480 gallons of laundry detergent per year. Moreover, detergents contain suspected carcinogens and ingredients that are not fully biodegrade.

3. We Encourage You to Reuse Bed Linen

Aside from reusing your towel, we also highly encourage you to reuse your bed linen! Washing bed sheets uses a lot of energy, water and detergent in daily basis. Reducing our water usages reduces the energy required to process and deliver it to businesses which will help to reduce pollution and conserve fuel resources. In addition, you can help us use less detergent. Many detergents still come in non-reusable and non-recyclable packaging. This means that thousands of these containers end up in landfills every single week, creating even more pollution.

4. All Our Rooms are Smoke-Free

Aside from the health risks, WHO reveals the fact that every year the tobacco industry costs the world more than 600 million trees, 200 000 hectares of land and 84 million tonnes of CO2, further contributing to global warming.

While more forests and lands are cleared to grow tobacco plants, cigarette butts are the most littered item on the planet, containing toxic chemicals which leech into our environment when discarded. Most importantly, cigarette smoking causes air pollution by releasing toxic air pollutants and unpleasant smell in guest rooms.

With the enforcement of No-Smoking policy, non-smoking guests can now enjoy an ultra-fresh smoke-free environment in all the hotel rooms, restaurants and public areas. Smoking guests who wish to enjoy a puff during their stay can still proceed to our designated smoking zone.

5. We Use Biodegradable Straws at Blu Apron

Do you know that plastic straws are among the top 10 contributors to plastic marine debris across the globe? To stop that, we introduce the use of food-grade biodegradable sugar cane straws at all our restaurants, cafes and bars. Without compromising the quality of dining experience, the straws withstand both cold and hot drinks, and decomposes completely within 90 days. It serves exactly like a plastic straw but in a better and more eco-conscious way!

6. We Implement Interior Energy Efficient Lighting

Standard LED bulbs can be up to 80% more energy efficient compared to conventional bulbs and waste far less energy as opposed to other styles of lighting. This means that LEDs require less power than regular forms of lighting. The less energy these bulbs require, the more positive the impact on the environment. Therefore, we are using energy efficient lighting in the hotel rooms to reduce the amount of energy consumed by indoor lighting.

Quick Tips: Do you know? By keeping the air-conditioning temperature at 21°C – 22 °C, we reduce energy consumption and carbon footprints.

7. We Practise Recycling & Waste Management

According to data obtained from the official website of the National Solid Waste Management Department, paper and plastic materials constitute the bulk of waste sent to landfills, with the former making up about 17% and the latter 9%.

By recycling paper, we do our part to reduce deforestation and save trees from being cut down. Separating cans, old batteries and other metals helps to cut down on damaging mining and our growing needs for raw materials.

8. We Engage Our Guests

A key part of saving the environment is to invite everyone to live in ways that do less harm to the environment. By using less plastic items, reusing towels and bed linens, conserving water and turning off lights when you don’t need them are all ways that you can reduce your carbon footprints while staying with us. We strongly believe that Wyndham Green will be part of our daily life to save our mother earth.
