Selamat Hari Raya

We are almost towards the end of Ramadan and the excitement of celebrating Hari Raya can already be felt on the streets of Kuala Lumpur.

To celebrate, we’ve installed a mini Kampung house in our hotel lobby. The term “Kampung” applies to traditional villages, especially of indigenous peoples.

Our international guests might be wondering why we have installed this model of a traditional Kampung house in our lobby.

Hari Raya, the Malaysian term for the observation of Eid, falls on 15 and 16 June this year and signifies the end of Ramadan. Many Malaysians return to their home villages to celebrate with their family and friends and the model Kampung house in our lobby represents this time of celebration with family and friends in their villages.

Just as Christmas sees Nativity scenes, Christmas trees and gingerbread houses installed, many homes and businesses will feature a traditional Malaysian house and other decorations as a reminder of what this time of year is all about.

The Ramada KLCC team has done a fantastic job, creating this Kampung House Model by hand. Look closely and you’ll see that it features a miniature grandfather clock, chairs and table and even a tiny tv remote control. A photo of the Agong adorns the wall, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is the Monarch and Head of State of Malaysia.

With the fasting month coming to a close next week, the excitement of celebrating Hari Raya can already be felt on the streets of Kuala Lumpur.

Selamat Hari Raya

Happy Hari Raya from the Ramada KLCC team.
